CMAS and PSAT/SAT

Dear Arickaree Parents,
We are quickly approaching the time of year where we will be administering the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS). The testing window is April 12-30. We plan to test the week of April 19-22. The high school will test PSAT and SAT April 13th.
It is the responsibility of the district to inform you that you have the right to opt your child out of these assessments. As you know, the State of Colorado chose to move away from the ACT in 2018. The SAT does not satisfy the federal requirement for accreditation by testing in the science content so that is why science is administered through CMAS to juniors.
Third and fourth grade students will test in the areas of English Language Arts and Mathematics.
Fifth grade students test in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science.
Sixth and seventh grade students test in English Language Arts and Mathematics.
Eighth grade students test in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science.
Ninth through eleventh grade students will take the PSAT 8/9, PSAT, and SAT respectively.
Testing session break downs are as follows:
Grades 3-5 3 90 minute sessions ELA 3 65 minute sessions Mathematics
Grades 6-8 3 110 minute sessions ELA 3 65 minute sessions Mathematics
Grades 5 & 8 3 80 minute sessions Science
History is tested in grades 4 and 7, but is administered on a lotto selection basis.
Please notify the district in writing by 4:00 pm March 31, 2021 if you would like to opt your child(ren) out of the Colorado State Assessments.
